OpenTelemetry has become the standard for collecting and moving telemetry data. But getting data from point A to point B is only part of the challenge.

Once your logs arrive, you need a tool that will process, store, and make your logs available for efficient analytics. And that’s where many organizations run into the same familiar tradeoffs: retain less historical data, sample aggressively, or pay rapidly increasing storage costs.

Hydrolix was built to eliminate those tradeoffs. With petabyte-scale retention, insights in seconds on petabytes of data, and storage economics designed for high-volume telemetry, organizations can keep more data without sacrificing performance or blowing their budget.

You can now ingest OpenTelemetry logs into Hydrolix with a few configuration steps, instead of building a custom integration. Native OpenTelemetry Log Ingest lets you send logs directly from existing OpenTelemetry collectors and applications using standard OpenTelemetry Protocol (OTLP) endpoints, with no custom exporters, no workarounds, and no additional infrastructure.

Whether you’re already running the OpenTelemetry Collector or sending data directly from instrumentation, connecting Hydrolix is now a straightforward, standards-based configuration.

Existing Hydrolix deployments that use the Hydrolix exporter continue to work as they do today. No migration is required.

Open Standards, More Control of Your Telemetry

OpenTelemetry gives organizations a standard way to instrument applications and move telemetry without tying those workflows to a proprietary vendor or agent. Native OTLP support brings Hydrolix into that model.

Teams can use the same OpenTelemetry collectors, standards, and workflows they already rely on to send logs directly to Hydrolix over HTTP. That means less custom integration work, but it also gives organizations more control over their telemetry infrastructure and the ability to retain their data in their own cloud environment.

Once that data lands in Hydrolix, you get what the platform was built for: long-term log retention, insights in seconds across petabytes of data, and up to 50x compression that makes it practical to keep more data at 4x–200x lower TCO than legacy platforms.

Native OpenTelemetry Log Ingest is available now If you’re an existing customer, your account team can help you configure native OTLP ingestion and identify opportunities to simplify your telemetry pipeline. If you’re evaluating Hydrolix, the Hydrolix team would be happy to show you how native OpenTelemetry support combines with the Hydrolix query engine and cost-efficient, long-term log retention to support high-volume telemetry at petabyte scale.
