It’s a nightmare scenario for every operations team: during a major event, there’s a major outage or performance issue, leading to lost customers and revenue. During peak traffic, when you most need systems to run smoothly, the risk of a catastrophic failure is also at its highest. Every second of downtime leads to lost revenue. Meanwhile, every extra second of page latency causes customers to abandon your services and share their frustrations on social media.
To ensure consistency and performance, most enterprises rely on content delivery networks (CDNs), with 72% of all website traffic passing through CDNs globally. Yet while CDNs are a powerful tool for delivering content, they also generate millions of log lines per second during major events. Service operators often struggle to get visibility into CDNs, leading to challenges when issues come up. End user quality of experience (QoE) relies on optimal CDN performance, but operators don’t have the visibility they need to fix issues quickly.
When the stakes are highest for your business, you need visibility into your entire network, including CDNs. Otherwise, you run the risk of that nightmare scenario: an issue that lingers too long and leaves lasting damage to your bottom line and your brand.
To solve this problem, Hydrolix is now offering CDN Insights, which is designed to provide fast time to insight across Akamai, Cloudflare, AWS CloudFront, Tencent, Fastly, and other CDNs, giving you coverage for more than 80% of the world’s CDN traffic. With CDN Insights, you can find and fix issues in your network before they impact your end users. Whether you use one CDN or multiple, CDN Insights provides the data you need to ensure high QoE.
The following dashboard shows a unified view of metrics across all five CDNs. These metrics remain accurate even when you are ingesting terabytes—or even petabytes—of CDN data on a daily basis. Depending on your use case, you can unify any combination of CDNs, whether you use one, three, or all five to deliver content.

The dashboard image shows just a few of the metrics you get with CDN Insights, including edge cache hit total %, peak throughput rate, and total throughput, giving you an at-a-glance understanding of your entire network.
Introducing CDN Insights: Instant Visibility for Peak Events
CDN Insights is designed for service operators who need to understand how their CDNs are performing. Whether that’s a real-time sporting event, the biggest sale of the year, or the day-to-day operations of delivering quality content to your customers, CDN Insights gives you the visibility you need at any scale.
Unified Insights Across CDN Providers
CDN Insights gives you visibility whether you are using one CDN or many. One of the biggest challenges of multi-CDN monitoring (other than handling scale) is unifying different log formats across CDNs so you can correlate and compare data. CDN Insights solves this by implementing a common schema that standardizes log formats and metrics across all supported providers. The end result: you can monitor multiple CDNs in a single dashboard with consistent, standardized metrics.
This standardization process ensures that varying field names, like Akamai’s statusCode and Fastly’s status, are uniformly mapped to a single field. This unified structure eliminates the need for the complex, compute-intensive queries that are typically required to join data from multiple sources.
For customers operating across multiple CDNs, you can easily identify if any providers or regions are underperforming so you can fix issues, rebalance traffic, and maintain a quality user experience.
Find and Fix Issues Faster
When network issues come up, service operators need to quickly diagnose and mitigate the root cause, but that’s easier said than done. Is it an issue with the origin, the edge, the end user device, or somewhere in between? CDN Insights provides intuitive drill-down analysis into CDN log data, allowing you to move between high-level performance metrics and individual raw log entries.
You can watch the following demo to see an example of how CDN Insights can troubleshoot a CDN issue. The demo shows how you can drill down into a specific ASN where there’s a problem and identify an access issue in a region that’s impacting end users.
A service operator can start with a high-level view of multi-CDN metrics, then drill down into specific dimensions. Here’s one way you could use CDN Insights to drill down and find a specific issue in a point of presence (PoP).
- Your multi-CDN dashboard shows a spike in errors, so you filter by CDN.
- You determine which CDN is causing the spike and drill down into the individual CDN dashboard.
- Next, the dashboard for the problematic CDN shows that the issue is associated with specific Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs).
- Drill down into the specific Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) associated with the issue to identify the specific point PoP where the issue is located.
- Examine the raw individual logs and locate the specific error message: a misconfiguration in the PoP.
The following dashboard shows how you can identify an ASN with a high error rate at a glance by drilling down into metrics for an individual CDN.

In the dashboard image, ASN 8151 is clearly at risk, giving you the next clue you need to get to the bottom of an issue impacting end user QoE.
Real-Time Analytics at the Scale You Need
Hydrolix is built for ingesting, storing, and querying data at massive scale. That includes CDN monitoring for the last two Super Bowls, the Olympics, Black Friday sales, and other major events that generate massive amounts of log data that other monitoring and observability platforms simply can’t handle.
During the 2025 Super Bowl, FOX used Hydrolix to ingest, store, and analyze nearly 200 terabytes of data over the course of the game. At peak, Hydrolix was ingesting 17.4GB/second, with a time-to-glass of five to ten seconds and sub-second queries.
CDN Insights provides the visibility you need during the events that can make or break your business. And unlike other platforms, it won’t fall over, time out, or force you to sample your data when you hit peak traffic.
Get Started with CDN Insights
CDN Insights is a pre-built bundle that includes dashboards and standardized data for five CDNs without any additional configuration needed: Akamai, Cloudflare, AWS CloudFront, Tencent, Fastly, and more. Once the solution is deployed, you get immediate access to unified metrics and logs across your CDN infrastructure.
There are two ways to get started:
- If you’re using Hydrolix in the AWS Marketplace, you can deploy the solution automatically through the UI. You can select CDN Insights in the Solutions and Data Sources menu to get started. Try a free trial of Hydrolix in the AWS Marketplace.
- If you’re using Hydrolix outside of the AWS Marketplace (such as with bring your own cloud), check in with your account manager to get started with CDN Insights.
